Most of these people are "cut-price" merchants because they don't know how to market. Eventually they cut things so much down to the bone that they end up losing money ...or rather... a lot of money ...and then have to sell (providing the house is still worth more than the mortgage balance) or go into foreclosure. <br><br>There is a very big downside these days to renting from an owner... you don't know if they are in foreclosure. Some owners are content to take rental money knowing full well a sale date is coming up. <br><br>Bottom line though is that it is very competitive and that's why I don't recommend marketing your home on the same websites (eg., VRBO) as everyone else.
